Reading Books Soy Wax Scented Candle Black

Kinda hipster but I don’t mind, buying this will make you feel sophisticated and a bit clever.

You’re on a city break. You’re on your own, you’re in a cafe and sat on the terrace watching the world go by. Lots of concrete around, a double espresso so strong your heart is racing, one of those little biscuits that smells incredible. They bring a glass of sparkling water over and it has a slight taste of hard water reduced only by the slice of lemon in the glass. Your phone is dead. Perfect. On the wall there are shelves floor to ceiling full of books. It’s a perfect end to the day and it’s only 11am.

We’ll be donating 10% of the sale to improve child literacy with this candle. With over 30% of people having trouble reading in the UK this is something that doesn’t get enough support. I found reading hard at school and I am a slow reader, I have had moments in life when I have found this hard.

About The National Literacy Trust

16.4% of adults in England, or 7.1 million people, can be described as having 'very poor literacy skills.' Adults with poor literacy skills will be locked out of the job market and, as a parent, they won’t be able to support their child’s learning.

The National Literacy Trust aims to help people affected by this. I struggled to read for a period of time when I was younger and it really affected my confidence for a while. I still read quite slowly now and I hope this candle can go some way to help people feeling how I did.

This candle is a bit more grown up. Hints of old books gathering dust on the shelf of a french cafe, the waft of the concrete from outside on an autumnal day and the light breeze blowing some tobacco back in through the window. This is great for a dinner party to show off how sophisticated you are even if you haven't finished a book since GSCE english in 1999
